Mike Mayberry has been a civil litigation attorney with Owens Davies since 1987. Mike started practice with Klingberg & Reitsch, P.S. in Longview, Washington in 1983. Mike’s practice has always been devoted to civil litigation and business and consumer advisory. Mike has always maintained a serious personal injury and wrongful death practice, along with environmental, insurance, construction, and employment law. Mike’s practice includes all manner of cases, including complex multi-year litigation. He has successfully represented clients in cases involving millions of dollars in disputes involving personal injury, wrongful death, environmental contamination, insurance coverage, construction defect, and employment. Mike is both an experienced trial and appellate lawyer. He is admitted to the Washington State Bar as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and U.S. Supreme Court.

Featured Cases and Matters

Wrongful Death/Personal Injury/Aircraft Crash: Mike has represented families and individuals in numerous wrongful death and personal injury claims. His experience includes product defects, motor vehicle accidents, aircraft accidents, toxic exposure and pharmaceutical malpractice. For example, Mike was counsel in a suit involving a wrongful death resulting from a fire caused by a defective dishwasher. Mike was involved in the causal investigation and represented the decedent’s family against Sears and White Consolidated through the beginning of the trial. The matter was successfully settled before Plaintiffs rested their case.

Mike represented an individual who sustained Legionnaires’ Disease on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. Suit was required to be filed in London and Mike was able to reach a successful settlement with the foreign-based ownership of the cruise line.

Mike represented one of the survivors of a helicopter crash in the Olympic Mountains. Suit was filed against the helicopter company which resulted in successful settlement before trial. Mike has also represented families of victims of airplane crashes.

Environmental Insurance Coverage: Mike represented the Port of Olympia in seeking coverage and reimbursement from the Port of Olympia's insurance carriers in relationship to costs incurred at the Cascade Pole Site in Olympia, Washington.  This complex, multi-year litigation resulted in the Port of Olympia collecting greater than $7 million from these insurers.

Environmental Matter: Mike represented Southgate Development Company, Inc. in a CERCLA case filed by the United States against the Washington State Department of Transportation and Southgate seeking reimbursement of more than $10 million in reference to the Palermo Wellfield Superfund Site. Mike successfully represented the client and was able to involve its prior insurance company in settlement.
